Prof. H. C. Pokhriyal

Prof. H. C. Pokhriyal is presently working in the substantive capacity as the Executive Director, School of Open Learning, University of Delhi (joined in December 2004); has been engaged in teaching undergraduate and post-graduate classes, conducting research/action research and capability training along with educational administration since 1976. He has served at the HNB Garhwal University, Srinagar, the Rohilkhand University, Bareilly, and the LBS National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie in different capacities, before joining the School of Open Learning, University of Delhi.

His academic interest areas include development economics, human development and decentralized planning and other related issues. Having completed his graduation (BA) from HNB Garhwal University in 1974, he pursued his post-graduation (MA) from Meerut University in 1976 and completed Ph. D. from HNB Garhwal University in 1985. He has also completed various short term courses in the specialized areas, namely, rural development related issues from Roorkee University, micro planning from National Institute of Rural Development, survey researches in rural areas from Council for Social Development, research methodology from Indian Institute of Agricultural Research and development economics and other related issues from USEFI/Delhi School of Economics. He has authored two books concerned with the Regional agrarian structure and Human environment and development issues along with various research papers/articles. He has coordinated various academic programmes for IGNOU which were to be offered to the students of conventional universities and also developed study material on Planning and Development being offered in public administration at IGNOU.

He has worked as the member of the Working Group on marginal/hill area development programmes constituted by the Planning Commission, Government of India for Tenth Five Year Plan. He has additionally served as the Dean, Examinations, from 2009 to 2011 at University of Delhi. Along with this, he is currently engaged with the development of three research based volumes, as the forthcoming publications on educational governance.
